Jordan, a country steeped in tradition and history but also a leader in active and eco travel, is well equipped to propel the region forward as it works to offer fresh ideas and products that embrace its cultural heritage while looking to its natural riches. From destination development projects that dive into rural and cycling tourism to specific brand initiatives, Jordan plans to become a trend setter on sustainable tourism.

Several examples of such development projects are the Jordan Trail, a continuous route spanning the entire nation; a newly opened and award winning solar-powered Feynan eco-lodge located in the Dana Biosphere Reserve; and The Princess Alia Foundation and Four Paws, both of which work to preserve wildlife and natural areas.

Well known for Petra, Wadi Rum and UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Jordan has adventurous activities that center around those iconic destinations while allowing travelers to hike unique landscapes, sky dive, sand board, climb, bike and more. Other unique activities that delegates at AdventureNEXT may experience include snorkeling and scuba diving the Red Sea from Aqaba as well as hiking the northern forests of Jordan, sampling the diversity of the region unknown to many travelers.

Adventures in Jordan and the surrounding region feature places where civilization began, making these activities not only immersive physical activities but also potentially spiritual and transformative experiences.  The “new pathways” offered may follow traditional routes but be done in new ways, and that is the exciting and innovative approach the people in the Near East and Jordan will take with tourism in the future.

During AdventureNEXT Near East, educational sessions and inspirational keynotes will deliver on the Revealing New Pathways theme and educate Jordanian and regional operators on ways to elevate their standard to meet the needs of the international market. With countries throughout the region in attendance the goal will be to nurture and create regional partnerships and collaboration opportunities.

Delegates to the event will benefit from the Adventure Travel Trade Association’s expertise in active and sustainable tourism. The event’s agenda will be confirmed in the coming months and speakers sought and confirmed who can contribute to the inspirational educational programming.

The welcoming and gracious Jordanian people are eager to host delegates in their country. ATTA’s Executive Director of the MENA region, Manal Kelig said, “AdventureNEXT Near East is a unique event that will not only showcase innovative tourism products, but it will also link cultures and promote sustainability. It is the right time to get up close and personal with Jordan and its neighbouring countries.”

Registration is now open for the event including MARKETPLACE opportunities for Jordanian and regional operators. Early bird $100 off registration is offered until January 15, 2017. An application for tour operator buyers with an interest in developing product in the region is also available beginning today. An application for media will be available soon.
