Both experts went through a rigorous vetting procedure in order to be named to the list by one of the world’s top luxury travel magazines.

The Reno-Lake Tahoe area is lucky to have one of the top North American adventure travel companies in the area. Myths and Mountains have been recognized not only by Condé Nast Traveler as the best in their fields, but also by honored by Wendy Perrin, The London Observer, National Geographic Traveler, Tourism Cares and many others.

Readers of Condé Nast Traveler are those who want to go someplace special and create memories not available to just anyone. “These on-the-ground fixers don’t dole out canned itineraries. They can get you a meeting with famous Buddhist teachers or rustle up a private 737 for your wedding party when their scheduled flight is canceled,” says the article naming this year’s featured travel planners who have proven their destination insights with years of experience.

The magazine notes that Toni Neubauer’ expertise in Nepal and Tibet “can get you into ancient Hindu temples and even set up a meeting with the Dalai Lama.” Allie Almario “has in-depth knowledge of every luxury ship in the Galapagos Islands.” Creating customized itineraries for clients who want something beyond the standard trip or tour is what they do at Myths and Mountains. They believe in connecting travelers with the people and cultures they visit. That skill is rightfully acknowledged by Conde Nast Traveler.

A complete listing of 2017 trips for is available on the Myths and Mountains website including departures to Asia and South America signed by Founder Toni Neubauer and VP Allie Almario.  Of special note are the trips which include visits to the READ Global community resource centers in Asia.  This non-profit organization was started by Toni in 1991 as a way to give back to communities in the destinations to which they travel.
