Satellite Location to Support Travelers and Expand Offerings
Chattanooga, TENN. - BikeToursDirect, which sends thousands of travelers on overseas bicycle tours each year, opened a new satellite office in Daegu, South Korea this month.
This enhanced presence in Asia reflects BikeToursDirect’s global expansion in 2012. The office will serve clients worldwide but will particularly focus on serving as “embedded experts” for travelers seeking bike tours within Asia.
“For most of our nine-year history, we focused on selling European bicycle tours primarily to the North American market,” says Jim Johnson, the company’s president and founder. “As we expand globally, selling tours worldwide to clients worldwide, we feel it will be important to have staff living in and serving clients and tour operators from their region. Our greatest concentration of tours outside Europe is in Asia, so that made the most sense.”
The BikeToursDirect South Korea office will initially be staffed by Asia Tour Specialist Lindsay Nash. Nash has lived in Korea for five years and traveled extensively through China, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, the Philippines and India. As a cyclist herself, she knows the value of seeing a country from a different angle, and brings new expertise to BikeToursDirect’s Asia destinations.
The satellite office will provide enhanced customer service for all BikeToursDirect’s guests with staff online nearly ‘round-the-clock. It will also serve as a regional point of contact for local Asian operators and travelers. Staff in the Asia office will perform ongoing outreach and research to provide the best advice for BikeToursDirect clients looking for a once-in-a-lifetime cycle tour experience in Asia.
“I’m particularly excited about the tours we’re currently adding in South Korea,” says Nash. “This will give our clients an opportunity to travel to the Far East and explore the ‘Hermit Kingdom’ – a place truly off the tourist track where tradition and modern life converge in a unique, fascinating culture.”
BikeToursDirect has bicycle tours throughout Asia, including Bhutan, Burma, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Jordon, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, the Philippians, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Tibet and Vietnam.
