The Adventure Travel Trade Association and Adventure.Travel are proud to introduce the category winners for the 2022 Adventure in Motion short film contest.
In partnership with Bulgaria, the competition was open to all members of the adventure travel community, including tourism organizations, tour operators, creative agencies, and individuals. Films were submitted for one of the following categories:
- Adventure needs Nature
- Adventure needs Women
- Adventure needs Community
After the film submission period, all films were reviewed and voted on by a Film Selection Committee. The committee narrowed down the submissions to three finalists per category, and then the public voted for their favorite in each category from 25 July through 20 August.
The category winners now advance to the live voting period, which will take place during the Adventure in Motion keynote session on Wednesday, 5 October at 17:00 CEST at the 2022 Adventure Travel World Summit (ATWS) in Lugano, Switzerland. All Summit delegates are encouraged to attend and support the three finalists.

Adventure Needs Nature
Adventure is a State of Mind
Adventure is a state of mind. And adventure tourism is facing the uncertainty of our natural world seeking impactful memories and meaning. This film, by Álvaro Palácios, aims to be a kind of scrapbook, a spontaneous collection of states of mind during our experiences. We try to show the essence of the Azores and the impact of these unique islands on those who visit us, with responsibility and respect. To display the emotional impact on each one of us and everyone we welcome and take to explore the extraordinary life that the Azores have. – Carlos Picanço, Futurismo Azores Adventures
